Costa Rica
There are few places as easy to travel and rewarding for tropical herping as Costa Rica. The Central American country harbors more than 400 different species of reptiles and amphibians and has a renowned protected area network with more than a quarter of the country set aside for nature reserves. I have been fortunate to travel to Costa Rica a couple times, though it never seems long enough. A highlight on the last trip was a visit to the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center (CRARC) which should be a stop for anyone interested in amphibians who visits the country.
